Bitter sweet session today as I got to take my last photographs of this lovely family before leaving Hong Kong. I’ve got to follow little Mr Q growing up over the last 2 1/2 years and each time I see him, he puts a smile in my heart… and now he’s the big brother of this beautiful little girl.  I’m going to so miss you guys… hope you make it to Switzerland one day!

This original work by the Discovery College Secondary Students  is truly outstanding. Strong story line, acting, staging, lighting, sound… I’m really impressed.

This story about life, death and hard choices follows a young girl as she grows up in WWII Germany and gets tangled up in the horror of the Nazi Germany, becoming a murderer dispite herself.

When I brought up the idea of a mother-daughter portrait Session, L. loved the idea but said “my mom hates having her photo taken… I’ll still ask her”… Mom accepted, and I’m so happy she did It was mom’s first time in Hong Kong since her daughter moved here, and I was honored to capture their reunion, celebrating their special bond.

At 22, Divalia Channel almost died in a freak mountain accident in the French alps. The doctors didn’t think she would survive the night, but she did. Not only did she come back, but she came back with a mission to help others. Her symbol is the butterfly and we teamed up with amazing henna artist Sara Mush to create some glamour portraits celebrating the multi-facets of this gorgeous soul. I loved today’s session so much, and not only because these people are lovely to work with and absolutely gorgeous… but because of why we did this Session.

When J and P got married, they didn’t really take time to do their “couple” photos on the day. This is something they regretted after the big day, but then life took over and they never really got around to doing them.   J approached me a few months ago to do a family session, but with part of it in their wedding clothes, so they could finally have those images… and even better, now they could take them with their gorgeous daughter.

I was really excited about this project. I think this is so true for many couples I know (including myself). On the wedding day, we just aren’t “free” to take time to slow down for the couple photos. There is so much going on that even if we get time to walk out for a few minutes, we’re on such a high, it’s not always easy to relax into a photo session.

In quite a few countries, people take pre-wedding photos. In Hong Kong, they even wear their wedding dresses and create images for the wedding day itself. As much as I find it wonderful to do that, I think we only really grasp the meaning of marriage until after the big day is over… and by after, I mean… years later. That’s what was so special about today for me. I loved that these two wanted to celebrate their union this way and to say “I still do” …

A sibling is a friend given by god… said someone… I think this is one of my favorite moments of the school photos when I get to photograph so many gorgeous connections… I could have shared all the photos from this collection, but had to narrow it down… I get to spend about 5 minutes with each. It’s a challenge to get to the essence of a relationship in such a short amount of time, but so much fun!

“I just got my pictures and I have to admit, I looked at them over and over again.  Sort of incredulous that they were me.  I mean, I had seen Dee’s work before and knew she was a bit of miracle worker with the camera, but it’s so much more than that.  First of all, it was fun.  I was nervous about being all decked out in fancy finery, but while the bubbles helped with that what really did the trick was Dee.  She has a knack for making you feel comfortable and creating an environment where you relax and the  pictures she takes end up capturing your personality, even if you are in fishnets and a leather corset!!!

Joy has just come back from auditioning  in Pilipans Got Talent Season 4 and we are all sitting on the edge of our seats to see if she made it through the first round that airs this week-end!

What better way to kill time than to have fun with a make-over with my friends from Hollywood Hair?  So we went over to their brand new salon in Duddell Street, and after a complete make-up with hair extensions and all, we set our in the  streets of Hong Kong to create images for her portfolio.

Last night, the students at Discovery College demonstrated their wonderful talent playing varied pieces of classical music. I really enjoyed the variety and virtuosity showcased by this talented group of young people.
