I’m really happy that you are considering deelee photography to create some custom artwork.
It’s not every day that you get in front of the camera and it might seem intimidating, but I promise to make it a very fun and relaxed experience. Investing in yourself, your family and your memories is a true indulgence and an experience you will remember for a very long time.
Here are some answers to regular questions I get that you might have too:
Scheduling
You will have the greatest flexibility and experience when scheduling sessions during the week days (Monday to Friday). I can also shoot on week-ends and holidays if I’m available, but it’s not my preference as all public places are crowded and this makes the experience less relaxed for all of us. Please note that extra fees will apply (I value my family time too!).
How much will it cost?
Quality photography is an investment. All my skill and professional equipment are brought together into producing unique pieces of art to celebrate your family. Everything is printed archivally to last a very long time even in humid conditions.
This being said, I think that everyone deserves to have access to beautiful imagery to celebrate their life and to cherish these memories forever… and this is a lot more affordable that you might think. I hold a large number of products and options and will always work with you to accommodate your budget. How long will it take until I have my pictures?
There is no one simple answer to this one. It can take a week, to several months, depending on the project, our schedules, the weather, the product you have chosen and my workload.
The shoot itself can take from 30-40 minutes for a mini session, to several hours for a celebration session.
Generally, your images will be ready for you to see within 1-3 weeks, time at which we will meet again to order your pictures.
Deelee prints will be ready for pickup or delivered to you within 1 week. Albums and Canvas prints are outsourced, so this takes longer (up to 2 months).
If you have a certain date by which you will need your photographs, please let me know so I can organize the project accordingly.
Maternity photography
The best time for maternity photography is in the 3rd trimester at the end of the 7th month or during the 8th month. I personally don’t suggest taking this up the last month, as you never know how things go :)
Newborn photography
I ask that newborn sessions be held within the 10 first days of birth. That is when you’ll have the most cooperation to get those lovely newborn poses. As a birth date is rarely an exact science, please let me know at least a few weeks in advance so I can pencil in some time for you and please call me soon after your angel has arrived so we can plan the shoot. I would hate to be fully booked and leave you without your newborn images.
Where will we hold the session?
All Studio and Mini-Sessions are held in Discovery Bay (near Hong Kong). Celebration Sessions can be held in your home or at any location of your choice within Discovery Bay. I also shoot on location in Hong Kong and Lantau, however travel costs will apply.
What do I wear to the Session? How do I get made up? What should I plan to take with me?
As soon as we have a date booked, I will send you a detailed document that lays out all the details and gives you useful tips. I do also recommend to work with a make-up artist if you are not used to making yourself up. If you would like this option, please let me know and I can book this for you.
What equipment do you have?
I use only professional equipment… and when I say professional, I mean it! I have professional grade Canon cameras, lenses and flash, Elinchrom studio lights & equipment, macpro computer & Eizo screens and a large format Epson pro printer. This is something I don’t take lightly as quality is one of my prime concerns all throughout our project.
If I’m a little “different”, will you photograph me?
Yes! I photograph without discrimination of gender, race, age, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability, nationality or any other possible form of discrimination us humans are capable of. I photograph and celebrate life under all it’s forms with love and tolerence and absolutely enjoy to learn from different people and experiences. The only limitation I do have, is that I do not take sexually explicit or porn images. So whoever you are and whatever your project, come over to my studio and let’s talk about it!
